Scope and Contents
L - Lacquer - Correspondence, articles, images re: Urushi/Lacquer - The Living Art of Nagatoshi Onishi. Articles include excerpts from Japanese publications including Hand to Hand; copies of World Urushi Culture magazine; an interview with Onishi by Toyojiro Hida and Nuances In Lacquer - 70 Years of Innovation and an essay, Expressing the Spirit of Urushi, both by Masami Shiraishu. Also includes Wendy Maruyama's proposal of the exhibition along with a CD; correspondence with Onishi; nine 5"x7" color transparencies, five 4" x 6" b/w photographs and one 3 1/2" x 5" color photograph of Onishi's objects. The file contains 42 Xerosed colored images and descriptions of Onishi's objects, copies of the exhibition press release and a thank you note.

No interpretive restriction is placed on material. Separate permissions are to be obtained for publishing material. Property rights to the physical object belong to Mingei International Museum. It is the responsibility of the researcher to determine who holds the copyright and pursue the copyright owner or his or her heir for permission to publish where Mingei International Museum does not hold the copyright. Confidential records related to security or operations and records containing personal information, legal communications or information about donors are permanently closed. Mingei International Museum reserves the right to restrict access to any records held by the Institutional Archives.
