Director Martha Longenecker - Executive Documents I

 Sub-Series

Scope and Contents

The records in this grouping are identified as the files of the Founding Director, Martha Longenecker. When the Founding Director, Martha Longenecker stepped down from the position of Director in 2005, many of her files remained in the office and transitioned over to the Museum’s Director, Rob Sidner. Other files from Director Martha Longenecker’s tenure were located in the Founding Director’s filing cabinets in another part of the Museum. When the Museum closed for renovation in 2018, all legacy archives files were packed in their original order into boxes and moved to another location for processing. Even though the files were packed in original order, some files were not in any apparent order. In some cases when there was no logical order to the files, the files were organized by category and then arranged chronologically during processing. In other cases, files that had either an apparent chronological or alphabetical order were kept in this order when processing. As a result, there is an overlap in years with the chronological files and the alphabetical files. As a general rule, files were kept in their original groupings (whether chronological or alphabetical) to maintain the integrity of the way in which the original files were stored together.
